Game Of The Week
This week I have a game that is hot off the presses! It comes from the CSCC speed tournament held earlier this week. The last time I published a game that was less than 7 days old was back in April. That game was also the last time I published one of my own games. So, my plea for people to send me some games has paid off.
This week’s game will make it 6 weeks in a row that I have published someone else’s loss (and win). I am hoping to make it 7 weeks in a row next week by stealing some games from people at the Southern Colorado Open.
Also, this week’s game will mark the first time I have published a game by a female chess player. The reason I have never published a game by a woman was not that I think they are inferior, but rather it was out of spite.
The whole reason I got into chess in the first place was to meet women.
Then they never show up! I was beginning to think the club had a sign out front that said “No Girls Allowed!” Of course, since “Girls” is plural, we can have one girl each night.
Recently, that girl has been Renae Delaware. Renae started playing rated chess about a year ago and is improving dramatically. It is almost like she has access to master level instruction on an unlimited basis.
She keeps telling me that she has beaten a master already. I just laugh and say, “I could give you my queen accidentally and still hold on to win the game and the CSCC speed tournament championship round.” So, she gave me her blitz game against former master, Imre Barlay, and wouldn’t you know it, she did win:

This Week In Chess

On 6/1, the CSCC had at least 23 members show up for the evening. In the USCF-rated matches (G90), Tom Mullikin dispatched John McIntyre, Andy Chow handled Allan Ufer, and Dean Brown knocked the cobwebs off Dan Cabrera. The speed tournament was split into 2 sections with only the top finishers moving on to the championship round. Here is how the sections finished:
