Game Of The Week
It has come to my attention that a short-time, female Tournament Director (TD) has quickly decided to retire from organizing and running chess events, starting immediately.
While I never actually got to play in her tournament, I can say that she received the fewest complaints of any TD in Colorado Springs history. Of course, her record doesn't match up with Dean Brown's 648 events (since Jan. 1, 1991) or NM Buck Buchanan's 22 years of service (since Jan. 1, 1991). Her 0 tournaments and 22 seconds of TD experience (since Jan. 1, 1991) burst through the Colorado Springs chess community like a dazzling comet streaking across the midnight sky. She definitely lived her TD life by the motto, "It is better to burn out than fade away!"
Since April has a rare 5th Tuesday (4/29), I am hoping to talk her into running at least one USCF-rated, G30, Swiss for the Colorado Springs Chess Club, as her retirement party. Chick-fil-A has agreed to provide chicken sandwiches for everyone who stops by from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The chess will start after 7:00 pm.
Oh, wait, I can't do that for her that night. We are having Dean Brown's retirement party that night. Nevermind.
Anyway, here is a position from one of my upset wins over Jeff Fox, where I was saved by the bell!
