Game Of The Week
When I first started publishing games, I was hoping it would motivate me to go over my past games. Early in my chess career, I would never go over a game again once it was done.
If I won, I felt like a burglar fleeing the scene. If I lost, I felt like the game was an embarrassing photo that everyone would laugh at endlessly.
But now, I realize maybe I was doing something right in my wins and that having a sense of humor about my losses makes them easier to look at.
So, this week I picked out one of my oldest USCF games. It was the second USCF-rated game I played and is still my biggest upset. I had no idea what I was doing in the opening back then (and not much more now), but I got a winning position and a huge lead in time.
Also, it was interested to review this game, as I haven’t played this opening in years. Maybe I will have to dust this one off.

This Week In Chess

On May 17, the CSCC had 17 members in attendance. The USCF-rated matches were not held this week since the club tournament directors were either busy or on their way to Minnesota.
So club officer, Renae Delaware, had the unfortunate task of trying to pair ladder games. But she decided it was easier to split the group into 3 club-rated, round robin matches (G15). I won in the top group, Dan St. John went undefeated in the middle group, and Mike Davis and Tikila Nichols tied for the lead in the lower group. Here are the results:

Earlier this month, I received some photos from one of my readers of Life Master, Brian Wall, doing an oil change on Renae Delaware’s car. Danny Diekman wanted people to know Brian can do more than just play chess. Also, he thought if anyone needed blackmail photos, these might do the trick.
