Game Of The Week
When Glenn Miller and I played in the Quad event, I was going to play my usual safe and solid defense and wait for a mistake. But he told me the only chess contact he had this year was my newsletter.
I asked him, “How are you surviving?”
He replied, “Just barely.”
So, I told him, “Come, have my bishop, you need it more than I.”

Last Week In Chess
Tuesday April 12, 2005
Normally, I report on what happen this past week at the Colorado Springs Chess Club. However, I was busy with my wife’s birthday and did not send out the newsletter or attend the chess club this week.
So, here is what I would have sent out had my wife not been born. On March 29, the CSCC had 19 members in attendance. In the USCF-rated matches (G90), Dean Brown beat Mike Davis and Richard Cordovano drew Tony Telinbacco.
The rest of the participants were split into 2 groups of quads for a round robin tournament. One group played club-rated games (G20), while the other played USCF-rated games (G30). Devin Smith won the club quad, while Jason Caldwell went undefeated in the USCF quad. Here are the results:
